This should have been more researched, but I’m pissed and this is what I need to get off my chest right now.

Did you know that birth control isn’t just for sex? It’s also a great, effective treatment for a little thing called PCOS, or “Polycystic ovary syndrome”? Basically with PCOS, your body doesn’t produce a balanced amount of hormones and it can seriously fuck up your system. There’s various degrees of how it can affect you; it can be as simple as having an irregular period or as intense as having thinning hair, facial hair, and needing to take injections.  As far as I know, there is one terrific treatment for it: BIRTH CONTROL. Hormonal birth controls to be precise; Birth control is an easily accessible treatment that supplies the necessary hormones to balance out the lacking ones.

It pisses me off because this whole war over birth control and abortion…

Does anyone stop for a freaking moment to think that maybe women’s health might be on the line for more reasons than just a baby? No, of course they didn’t. They don’t know what it’s like to have a period so painful that you can’t perform basic tasks. They don’t know what it’s like to need to regulate your hormones on a budget. All they care about is that the baby you may or may not have will live and that you can die for all they care. Oh yeah, and when that baby is born, they stop giving a shit about it too.

Oh, and by the way - PCOS makes you more likely to be infertile because of the hormonal imbalance. So yeah, if you took away the pills, you wouldn’t been “saving a life”, you’d just be taking away a regulator for hormones.
